The Best of Buckhead: Libby's Cabaret
Longtime Atlanta residents are in for a dual treat when they spend an evening with Libby Whittemore at her cozy cabaret: great music and great memories.
The cabaret is tucked in among the shops off West Paces Ferry Road at Northside Parkway in the "No Name Shopping Center" that includes Panos & Paul's. (That's correct: The center has no name.) Libby has entertained Atlanta for years and credits her long string of successes to performances in a multitude of shopping center cabarets. Her current place is back of a Chick-fil-A.
Libby's voice remains strong and her trademark dance steps never fail to charm. She's Buckhead's own blend of Rosemary Clooney, Patsy Cline and Ethel Merman.
Robert Strickland, the cabaret's musical director and talented pianist who accompanies Libby, adds his own spice to the show with keyboard and body language virtuosity.
General manager Claude Tant and food and beverage guru Sal DeFalco keep food and drinks flowing without disturbing the performance. The menu focuses on light but tasty fare such as crab cakes and Mom's Peach Sherbet.
Libby, a Georgia native, attended Buckhead's Christ The King parochial school, E. Rivers Middle School and Northside High School. She spent time in television and films, but her heart's in cabarets, and yours will be, too, when you spend an evening with her at Libby's.
